Introducing SEED Retrofit Panels, custom fit to your home and fabricated in Ontario by our team at Tooketree Passive Homes.

Developed in partnership with Natural Resources Canada, our retrofit panels are made to wrap around the exterior of your home, significantly improving R-values and airtightness, and in turn, providing comfort and energy savings.

As with all of our SEED Building Systems, retrofit panels use natural insulation materials that store carbon, helping to mitigate climate change.

With a variety of options for fitting, fastening, and integrating SEED Retrofit Panels with your existing structure, Tooketree’s retrofit system is adaptable to many existing building types.  Our evaluation and planning process is guided by an expert team of designers, engineers and certified passive house builders.

How it works:

  • Fully sealed, factory-assembled panels

  • Depth of 9 ½” at 16” o.c. provides a clear field R value of 28 +

  • Drainage and ventilation are facilitated by pre-installed strapping

  • Incorporates biogenic insulation materials, mainly dense-packed cellulose

  • A high-performance WRB surrounds the entire retrofit panel

  • Site-installed adhesive WRB seals the connections (where necessary)

  • Site-installed compressible layer to enable a snug fit with the existing wall (where necessary)

  • The fastening system used will depend on the existing wall structure; likely a combination of Rothoblaas GRK screws and steel brackets.

Our retrofit system can increase the insulation value of your Building Envelope (exterior walls and roof) by up to 5 times, and improve your building’s air tightness by 96%.

A few details:

Window openings and penetrations for electrical, plumbing and HVAC are pre-installed into the retrofit panels in our factory. If your retrofit includes new windows, you can choose to have them pre-installed as well.

Panel installation is straightforward and can be completed by any experienced builder. Contractors and project team leads will be provided with instructions, and a representative from Tooketree Passive Homes is available to assist first-time installers.

Ideal for multiplex buildings, these panels are suitable for low and mid-rise structures up to 8 stories high.
