Tooketree Passive Homes was established in 2018 to offer clients a fully licensed, WSIB-registered, insured, sustainable panel building company.  We focus on building high-performance building components while minimizing the environmental impact of our buildings.  Our panels sequester carbon.  Our priorities include:

Job Title: Construction Manager

We're looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Construction Manager to join our team in Baysville, Ontario.

This is a unique opportunity to oversee all manufacturing stages of our prefab building systems, ensuring they are assembled and finished to the highest standards. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for quality and excellence, working with a team dedicated to innovation and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage in-house and on-site construction activities, including the assembly and installation of our prefab building components.

  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and timelines to ensure projects are completed efficiently.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners.

  • Lead and advise our manufacturing team.

  • Ensure all on-site work is completed to the highest quality standards and in compliance with all building codes and safety regulations.

  • Conduct regular product inspections to monitor progress and quality.

  • Serve as a main point of contact for clients during the construction phase, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns.

  • Problem-solve and resolve any issues that may arise.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager or in a similar leadership role in residential construction.

  • Strong understanding of residential building codes and construction processes. Experience with prefab construction or high-performance buildings is a significant asset.

  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to your work.

  • Must be willing to travel to project sites throughout Ontario.

  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Job Title: Factory Design Intern

We’re looking for an Intern for a 12-month assignment to help develop CAD drawings using Cadwork and Revit to help with our factory renovations and with the modelling of customer homes for production.  You will join our young and growing Sustainable Panel Pre-fabrication factory operation, and help us build amazing green projects for clients across Ontario.   We need candidates who have or are prepared to learn the skills required to contribute to a high-performance business. 

Position:

Working as a team member, you will help produce high quality products in an efficient and productive manner, safety of course being the critical focus.

Knowledge, skills and abilities we value:

  • Experience and skills in CADwork and Revit

  • Basic carpentry skills, including but not limited to, framing, structural alterations, insulation and vapour barrier installation, and other carpentry skills

  • Ability to problem solve using best practices and sound building science

  • Ability to work in a team of 2-3 Tooketree crew members

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are an asset

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Ability to read and work from building plans is an asset, including a working knowledge of the OBC

  • Willingness to follow and uphold company policies and health & safety mandates

  • Knowledge of green building approaches and building science is extremely desirable

  • Ability to arrive on time for regular shifts of work

  • Willingness to commit to the holistic vision of Tooketree as a green building company and uphold its mandate at all times

  • The candidate must have current WHMIS certification and fall protection training (or be willing to acquire this)

Specific responsibilities:

  • Participate in building factory panels with assigned tasks.

  • Help design the factory modifications, including revision of processes to include new CNC robotic equipment

  • Working safely and efficiently with other crew members and management

  • Following the Tooketree best practice building procedures

  • Participating in all daily on-site duties and responsibilities

  • Follow and support the directives of the team leader and operations Manager

  • Helping to follow and support quality control of all Tooketree work and projects

  • Understand and follow all Tooketree policies and procedures

Terms of employment:

  • 12-month internship term

  • Competitive hourly rate plus vacation pay

  • Mileage paid per km for material and tool runs
