Tooketree Passive Homes was established in 2018 to offer clients a fully licensed, WSIB-registered, insured, sustainable panel building company. Job Title: Panel Fabricator/Carpenter
We're looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Panel Fabricator to join our team in Baysville, Ontario.
This is a unique opportunity to participate in all manufacturing stages of our prefab building systems, ensuring they are assembled and finished to the highest standards. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for quality and excellence, working with a team dedicated to innovation and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
Participate in in-house and on-site construction activities, including the assembly and installation of our prefab building components.
Follow project schedules, budgets, and timelines to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners as needed.
Fully participate in our manufacturing team.
Ensure all on-site work is completed to the highest quality standards and in compliance with all building codes and safety regulations.
Conduct regular product inspections to monitor progress and quality.
Problem-solve and resolve any issues that may arise.
Qualifications/Valued Capabilities:
Carpentry experience in residential construction.
Understanding of residential building codes and construction processes. Experience with prefab construction or high-performance buildings is a significant asset.
Ability to understand and work with Building plans and shop drawings.
Excellent time management skills, including the ability to manage schedules, and resources effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to your work.
Willing to travel to project sites throughout Ontario.
Ability to get to Factory for regular work hours.
The candidate must have current WHMIS certification and fall protection training (or be willing to acquire this)

Job Title: Quality Assurance and Fabrication Intern
As a Quality Assurance and Fabrication Intern, you will join our young and growing sustainable pre-fab building systems factory operation and help us build amazing green projects for clients across Ontario. We need candidates who have or are prepared to learn the skills required to contribute to a high-performance business.
Position:
You will work as a member of the fabrication team, with a focus on Quality Assurance and Health and Safety. You will help produce high-quality products efficiently and accurately.
Knowledge, skills and abilities we value:
Basic understanding of blueprints and shop drawings
Basic carpentry skills, including but not limited to: framing, structural alterations, insulation and vapour barrier installation, and other carpentry skills
Ability to problem solve using best practices and sound building science
Ability to work in a team of 2-3 Tooketree crew members
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are an asset
Keen attention to detail
Ability to read and work from building plans is an asset, including a working knowledge of the OBC
Willingness to follow and uphold company policies and health & safety mandates
Knowledge of green building approaches and building science is extremely desirable
Ability to arrive on time for regular shifts of work
Willingness to commit to the holistic vision of Tooketree as a green building company and uphold its mandate at all times

Define and review documentation of fabrication processes.
Create and maintain checklists for the fabrication team to minimize quality risks
Inspect product quality and equipment setup to ensure accuracy (ie, moisture meter calibration, insulation density equipment accuracy, etc).
Maintain required documentation for Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards, including moisture measurements for lumber to be processed.
Identify areas for process improvement and provide training to new hires.
Ensure all staff are fully aware of and follow organization safety protocols.
Update safety procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements to ensure the safety of the workforce.
Terms of employment:
Competitive hourly rate plus vacation pay

Job Title: Factory Design Intern
Tooketree, in collaboration with the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), is offering a Prefabrication Quality Assurance Internship through the Indigenous Workforce Development Program.
The purpose of this internship and the Indigenous Workforce Development Program is to strengthen and develop Northern Ontario’s Indigenous workforce through strategic partnership.
The applicant will receive their legal agreement directly from the NOHFC, which will outline the conditions of the agreement. The internship will last one calendar year with at least 35 hours of work per week.
Applicant Criteria (Per the NOHFC):
Candidate for this position must identify as an Indigenous person, including First Nation, Metis or Inuit.
Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
Candidate must not have previously participated in an NOHFC-funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Muskoka region.
